The new Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center at the Johns Hopkins Hospital is the result of a unique collaboration between artists from across the country, a curator, a group of architects, Bloomberg Philanthropies and Johns Hopkins. Featuring more than 500 works of art created by over 70 artists, the new Children’s Center is a unique environment that provides a place of healing for young patients and their families.
Key elements of the building’s architecture and design include a curving canopy, pedestrian bridges, a green roof, and inviting landscaping and gardens. The state-of the-art architecture and design of the building play a key role in the mission of the Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center, which seeks to bring comfort and healing to patients and families. The Children’s Center hopes to serve as a model for other institutions interested in adopting a similar approach.

Monet-inspired colors grace the tower windows of the Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children's Center. The complex fritted windows will transform the building into a glowing lantern at night.
