Fighting Illegal Guns
Mike Bloomberg is leading the fight against illegal guns in the United States. As co-founder of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Mayor Bloomberg has spearheaded efforts to eliminate the sale and distribution of illegal guns in New York and around the country. The coalition consists of more than 900 mayors across the nation from all sides of the ideological, political and geographic spectrum, representing 56 million Americans. Mayors Against Illegal Guns seeks common-sense solutions that will keep guns out of the hands of criminals. As Mayor, Mike has targeted irresponsibility out of state dealers to clamp down on the flow of illegal guns into New York City, passed new laws to require mandatory registration for gun offenders, and he took on the gun lobbies in Washington. Mike’s efforts to crack down on illegal guns have helped drive down crime by 30% in New York City.
