Mike Bloomberg's Statement on Administration’s Directive to Stem Coal Plant Closures as National Security Measure
By Mike Bloomberg - JUN. 01, 2018
Bailing out polluting, unprofitable coal plants will mean Americans will pay more for electricity, and many communities will also pay in lost jobs and worse health. This has nothing to do with national security and everything to do with special-interests getting their way in Washington. The market is delivering cheaper and cleaner energy, because that's what Americans want - but instead, the administration is trying to force us to accept dirty and expensive coal.
The groups fighting this policy span the political spectrum - from health and environmental advocates to free market conservatives and attorneys general - and Bloomberg Philanthropies will help lead the charge.

IN MIKE'S WORDS
There are so many facets to climate change that make it difficult to address, but you don’t give up just because it’s difficult. You work harder.
70% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions come from cities.
Cities also present the greatest opportunities for protecting the environment. Mayors around the world are rising to the challenge.
