Bloomberg Philanthropies and BloombergNEF (BNEF) released “India’s Clean Power Revolution,” a new white paper detailing how India has become the world’s largest and most competitive clean energy auction market – and a model country for others looking to leverage low-carbon investments in their Covid-19 economic recovery strategy.

Today, Michael Bloomberg addressed nearly 30 mayors representing 18 countries in the first session of Leading Through Crisis: Reducing the Impact of COVID-19 in Latin America and Africa—a six-part, bi-weekly virtual learning series supported by the Bloomberg Philanthropies COVID-19 Local Response Initiative.

Bloomberg Philanthropies released the COVID-19 Management Metrics for Cities developed by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and What Works Cities to help city leaders collect and analyze key data to guide the next phase of recovery while keeping the most vulnerable residents’ needs front and center.

In the three months since Bloomberg Philanthropies launched its $40 million COVID-19 Global Response Initiative, with partner Resolve to Save Lives, an initiative of Vital Strategies, 31 countries in Africa have been able to deepen and expand their public health efforts to minimize the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic.

College Bridge, an innovative program that helps New York City public high schoolers overcome the “summer melt” and make a successful transition to college, will expand this year to reach every 2020 graduating senior as a direct result of a $877,000 grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies. An additional $250,000 grant from The Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation will provide support for the program’s summer and fall terms.

Bloomberg Philanthropies and World Central Kitchen announced that together they have served more than one million meals over the past six weeks to 30,000 healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City. Since this partnership launched with a $6 million gift from Mike Bloomberg on April 15th, workers at 16 facilities of NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest public health care system in the country, were served fresh, daily meals.
