Earlier today we lost one of America’s most passionate champions for climate action, and a great urban leader, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee. I had the chance to work with Mayor Lee while I was in office and later through our foundation. He helped make San Francisco a global leader on climate change, and he was a big believer in spreading successful ideas through international cooperation. He was an active member of our C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, as well as the Global Covenant of Mayors — and we’re going to miss him. My heart goes out to his family and all the people of San Francisco, and I think the greatest tribute we can pay him is to continue accelerating the work we are doing today in Paris, and all around the world, to ensure that we fulfill the Paris Climate Agreement.
