There are few people we can truly call statesmen, and George Shultz was one of them. He was a giant on the world stage. His accomplishments, which include ushering in the end of the Cold War, touched all facets of American life. After leaving office, George remained a respected and important voice on major issues, including climate change — he was always looking forward and he had a deep respect for science and the natural world. He was a keen intellect, an insightful leader, and a wonderful friend. I will miss him dearly.
