Statement on President Trump's Environmental Record
JUL. 08, 2019
The President can say what he wants, but his environmental record is clear - and awful. Trump is the Pollution President: He has protected toxic chemicals and pollutants that poison our air and water instead of the health of the American people. He has given a green light to a pesticide that puts children and farm workers at risk of brain damage. He has weakened rules protecting children and pregnant women from toxic mercury pollutants that spew out of coal fired power plants. And he has driven up the greenhouse gases that are causing climate change. The facts show that the progress we have made cleaning the air, protecting health, and cutting carbon emissions has happened in spite of him, not because of him -- and it has been led by cities, states, and businesses. He can try to claim credit for their leadership, but the American people won't be fooled.
U.N. Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change and President of the Board of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group.
IN MIKE'S WORDS
There are so many facets to climate change that make it difficult to address, but you don’t give up just because it’s difficult. You work harder.
