When I was asked to Chair the TCFD in 2015, few people were talking about the importance of climate-related financial disclosure – or the enormous potential it holds for accelerating the transition to a clean energy economy.

The energy and inspiration we get from being with other people is what drives the world forward. It’s how problems get solved. It’s how innovation happens. It’s how power is exercised. It’s how tyrants are toppled. It’s how changes get made. And it’s how we can achieve great things in our lives, for our communities and for our countries.

The recent violent attacks on Jews that have taken place in NYC, LA, and other cities, including in the U.K., are abhorrent – as is the vandalism that has occurred at both temples and mosques. Jews and Muslims must stand united against this violence and hatred.

As mayors around the world grapple with implementing equitable COVID-19 vaccination programs for their citizens, Bloomberg Philanthropies announced grants to 18 cities in low- and middle-income countries to support their planning for vaccine distribution rollouts with an emphasis on reaching high-risk populations.

Mayor Covas was a bold and creative leader who helped make the economic engine of Brazil one of the most innovative cities in the region.

Johns Hopkins University and Bloomberg Philanthropies announced the launch of the Vivien Thomas Scholars Initiative devoted to addressing historic underrepresentation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields, and preparing a new, more diverse generation of researchers and scholars to assume leadership roles in tackling some of the world’s greatest challenges.
