President Emmanuel Macron and Michael R. Bloomberg, UN Special Envoy for Climate Ambition, announce a global effort to enhance transparency to monitor business climate actions and commitments in the global fight against climate change. A new Climate Data Steering Committee will bring together international organizations, regulators, policy makers and data service providers to advise on the creation and design of an open-data public platform that will collect, aggregate, and standardize net-zero climate transition data based on private sector climate commitments.

One of the biggest challenges to fighting climate change gets little attention: lack of essential data. We have an enormous amount of data showing that climate change is real and that dramatic steps must be taken to reduce emissions now.

As we mourn the horrific murder of at least 19 students and 2 teachers in Uvalde – following the racist mass shooting in Buffalo that killed 10 Black people – we also remember George Floyd, who was murdered two years ago today.

Growing economies and growing populations mean growing energy needs. The international community must collaborate with developing countries to meet those needs through universal access to energy that is affordable, reliable, and clean.

At long last, the jig is up. The Republican judicial nominees who tap-danced their way onto the Supreme Court appear set to end their flimflamming and take a bow for an act of epic deception: pretending they really, truly, honestly would respect the long-established precedent set in Roe v. Wade.

Across the United States, students have fallen behind by an average of four months in math and five months in English. The results have been even worse for those children most in need, especially in schools serving mainly low-income populations, where students have fallen behind by an average of seven months.

Make no mistake: This is a real crisis requiring immediate intervention. Unless urgent steps are taken, many children will never catch back up.
